Impression Obsession: Flower Power

The theme this week is FLOWER POWER!
Join the IO Team and play along in our challenge for a chance to win a $25 Impression Obsession gift certificate. Just use IO stamps or dies, create and link up! You don't have to have a blog to play!
For more challenge info you can go here to the IO Blog.

Check out the floral inspired designs from the DT:

The new LUCKY Clear Set has been on the desk for a few days begging for some ink.  So I gathered up some little flowers to comply with our theme and started playing with paper. I'll confess... all my flowers are pre-made! I need some flower making lessons from Kittie!
Check out the new LUCKY set... I was in need of a great St. Pats set and here it is!

After stamping the sentiment, I airbrushed just a bit using Copic YG63.

On the inside, I used the same papers and continued the distressing on the edges. I used a Charcoal Chalk Cats Eye to darken the edges.

I added a little butterfly to embellish, cutting it twice so that the wings have layers. The frame layers are popped up with foam tape for a little added dimension. Finished card is an A2.

Serendipity Stamps January 2016 Blog Hop!

BIRTHDAY - STRIPES - BLOG HOP

Welcome to Serendipity Stamps Blog Hop...our first hop for the new year!
Before we get started with all the hop info, remember we still have the monthly challenge going on. You still have plenty of time to get your entry in. The theme for the January challenge is Stripes. Thats it... just use some kind of stripes on your project and Serendipity Products! All the details for this can be found on the SSCB

Are you hopping with us? We are showing the latest products along with a few favorites! Leave comments as you go because one lucky winner will be chosen at random from the blogs to receive a $20 gift certificate from Serendipity Stamps.
Leave comments through January 24th. Mary will announce a winner on Monday January 25th

Here's the Blog Roll for today:

Mary's Blog...(start here)

I used the NEW Balloon Die and pieced together some floating balloons. I separated the balloons from the strings and used silicone to pop up the balloon. I added a little black wash tape border along the edge of the floral frame. The frame is popped up with foam and the white panel with the balloons is inset lower. All of the patterned paper is from Penny Black's Painted Blooms 6x6 paper pad. The sentiment, The Trick, is one that could work for a woman or man, just change your pattern paper to a more masculine design. The card is pretty CAS but the added dimension with the frame gives it a little extra pop! Finished card is an A2.

Thanks for hopping along with us today!

Be BOLD add Layers!

Who can resist the Bird Crazy Bandwagon? I had to have them. I'm hoping for some Crazy Cats and Crazy Dogs next! I used a Gelli Print background that I had in my stash instead of printed paper. My big eyed bird is colored up with Copic Markers and the same for the sentiment strips.

You don't have to get crazy with layers.... just a few extra layers makes this card pop! Simple 1/16" and 1/8" layers are made SO easy with Perfect Layer Rulers! You can see that the extra line between the alphabet and the bird really gives it a lot of definition and separates the two panels. The Mini Rulers are definitely a tool favorite for me.

On the inside... a little extra 1/8" edge above my alphabet panel helps me use up scraps and bring all the colors to the inside finishing it off! Finished card is an A2.

  • Stamps: Tim Holtz Bird Crazy and Coordinating Dies, Dyan Revealey Stamps "Don't Hold Back"
  • Dies: #DIE160-U Alphabet Dies by Impression Obsession, Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle
  • Paper: Bo Bunny Double Dot, Gelli Printe Background, Mulberry, Black, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White #110

For my last card this week, I thought I'd share one of the new  Zenspiration's images... The Gathering. Her drawings are whimsical and always happy! My watermark covers up the sentiment, it says:
Take time to tell people you love how much they mean to you.
Whether you send a card or express it in person it's something we can all do more of... everybody wants to know that they matter. I added a little Glossy Accents to the hearts for a bit of shine.

You can see the full image here, so you can see how I colored the border and used it. I actually stamped it twice, cutting it along the black border to pop up for some dimension.  This little image could go for Valentine's Day or an anytime hello card.

Thanks for playing along with Impression Obsession this week and sharing our excitement about all the new images!!!

Hehee... loved this stamp and can see myself making some magnets for the fridge with it and using it on plenty of girlfriend cards and in my art journal.
I created a funky background with Ken Oliver's Color burst and added the Inner Child Sentiment which is embossed in black to help it stand out. To embellish I used the die cut pieces from the Spiral Flowers Die Set. The black frame has little stitched detailing... and is from the Rectangle Frame All in One Set #2. The stitching is on both the inside and the outside of the frame edges. Finished card is an A2.

I adored this Coneflower and Bees image the first time I saw it. It stamps so crisp and clean in Versafine Onyx Black. I did use the MISTI to double stamp making sure it was super crisp and dark. I paired it up with the Failure Taught Me sentiment to make an encouragement card.

I added a strip of the Coneflower image along the bottom edge of the liner on the inside along with the You can do This sentiment. Finished card is an A2.

New to challenges?
It's easy and fun.
You can find all the information you need here on the SSCB.
Stripes was the name of the game today and I paired some striped paper up with a Valentine's theme. I used patterned paper from Authentique's Adore 6x6 paper pad. I stamped the oh so pretty Love is Patient on Spellbinder's Labels 28, softly airbrushing around the edges with Copic RV11.

I used foam tape to raise the stamped panel up on the card front. I added a little seam binding and a key to embellish.

On the inside I added the sentiment Sending Lots of Love and added a little heart from the Love Die. Finished card is an A2.

This is one of the new Cover-a-Card stamps Vintage Honeycomb. When I first saw it, it made me think of the Copic Hex Chart. So I thought I'd color it with a little Copic Rainbow. After coloring the swatch I added Glossy Accents to some of the honeycombs so they would really shine and stand out. I die cut the Birthday Word Die several times, then I glued and stacked them so it is more of a chipboard like element. Finished card is an A2.

  • Stamps and Dies  by Impression Obsession: Vintage Honeycomb CAC #CC231, Happy Birthday Word Die #DIE166-F
  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Paper: Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Black
  • Other: Copic, Glossy Accents, Perfect Layer Rulers, Stitched Rectangle Dies

I used the cool new Grunge Butterfly for a simple layered thank you card. I stamped it on some pink rainbow paper using black ink. My MISTI helped me get a clean and solid image on the solid areas. I framed the butterfly with the elements from the All in One Frames Squares 2 Die set... I used a screw punch to add some holes to the scalloped edge.
