Sweet and Simple Holiday Card

I used a Nellie's Embossing Folder to create the front panel. It embossed deep and beautifully. I layered with a red panel and popped up with foam tape on to the card base. It needed a little something in the corners so I added a few corner pieces popped up with foam tape.

The oval center from Spellbinder's Radiant Rectangles fit in the oval from the embossing folder quite nicely. I hand cut an extra red layer around cut oval die. I popped that up with foam tape and added a little holiday bow for decoration.

I left the inside wide open for a holiday message or letter. I used Spellbinder's Curved Borders Two add a little decoration.

Our three challenge requirements are all on the card.... scoring lines along the bottom, Colored with Copics, and I let the Flourishes Perfectly Pierced Window Die do all the piercing.

I forgot to line my markers up for a picture sorry! I did accent the flowers with Clear Viva Glass Pen. On the lemon wedge I added a very thin coat of Rangers Crackle Accents.

JENNY GROPP - you are here!

CARD 1
Just in the house is the new Graphic 45 Sweet Sentiments Collection. I knew I could find a pretty Impression Obsession Quote to use with it! The Love Above All quote I thought worked well. Love quote stamps, they work for anytime cards! and a random card that someone plucks from the mailbox is always sure to bring a smile!

I used the 8x8 and the 12x12 of the Perfect Petals paper. The card hinge is at the top and opens tent style. Foam tape between layers adds dimension.

CARD 2
I thought this pretty quote Warming Spring from Alesa Baker really paired up nicely with this paper. It's the same paper as in the above card... but it takes on a different look when paired up with purple.

I added a little paper piercing around the edge and some layered circles. Of cousrse foam tape for dimension and a little sparkle with some adhesive gems.

  • Stamps by Impression Obsession: #D13079 Love above all, E6805 Warming Spring

Flourishes - A Princess Birthday Hop!

Today is a special day for the Flourishes Family to celebrate our Birthday Girl - Julie Koerber!  And Julie is definitely worth celebrating!  She's the right hand on so many levels of what's beautiful about Flourishes, and we're so grateful for her and blessed to also call this lovely lady our friend.
This summer a number of the Flourishes Senior Design Team girls gathered for a weekend in Yellowstone National Park.  It was a fantastic time of fun!  One of the great things some of the girls did was go Whitewater Rafting.  Because there were family members along, Julie graciously said she'd sit in the middle of the raft so the kids could get the most out of the experience.  The raft guide however thought that would be a fun opportunity to tease Julie about her "Princess" status.  She gracefully took it and we love to tease her about it - and so the idea for this Princess Birthday Hop was born!  Julie we love you and your fun, spunky spirit, and also the warmth and grace you live your life with!  Happy Birthday from all of us at Flourishes!

We invite you to hop along today with many of our Flourishes Family to see our pretty Princess and Birthday inspiration, and join in on our wishes for Julie!

Comment along the way and you could be entered to win any Birthday set of your choice from the Flourishes Store!  Winners will be chosen and announced on Saturday November 23rd on the Flourishes Blog.

And don't forgot to drop by Julie's place to send her your Happy Birthday wishes too!

Jenny Gropp - you are here!

Princess Julie!
I wish you a wonderful birthday! I hope you treat yourself to something fun and extra special! It's been nothing but fun knowing you for so many years! I tried to make you a girly card.... not really my specialty!
I used Spellbinder's Labels 8 and Decorative Labels 8 to frame the image from the Feminine Charm Flourishes set. I picked bright and happy colors because you always are both!!!
Had to add in this sentiment... because this is how so many of Julie's emails start!

I added a little floppy white ribbon bow along the side to embellish. All the bright paper I used is from the new Bo Bunny Collection called Pin Cushion.

Here's the hop order again:

My Tags:
I made some really simple tags today... when the presents are being wrapped and it's crunch time these are quick and easy but still have a little Christmas sparkle! The sparkle is much better in person! Choose some Nestie Shapes for your base card... easy enough! Grab the dove die and the ornament die and some pretty paper, easy peasy!
Create your folding tag by scoring the back panel of the nestie slightly below the top and gluing the two pieces together above the score line. The fold acts like a hinge.

Here are the insides of the two tags. I added sentiments  using Memento's Grey Flannel ink. The Blue pattern paper is from Bo Bunny's Woodland Winter Collection.
I added the sentiment inside It's that time of Year again! This could work for holidays, birthdays and anniversaries.

Love this fun Happy Christmas sentiment!

Here's the how to:
Die cut out of a heavy weight paper. I prefer Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 110#. Use a Viva Glitter Liner Pen (Silver is what I used) to literally add a big glob or two and then just smear it around the die cut. You want to make sure all portions are covered. It will dry with a little gloss finish, so if a spot is not covered it will stand out as dull. Once coated, put it on a clean piece of paper to dry. Dry time takes about 90 seconds.

Here it is dried. The glitter is not overwhelming. Also the glitter is very small so it does not stick out or rub off.  Stickles can be a little too chunky to use for this.

I actually cut 3 ornament dies and then glued them together, with the sparkly on top. I wanted a little extra dimension. My favorite wet glue is by far Ultimate Glue to do this. Wet glue gives you a little wiggle time to line everything up cleanly. I apply it to the small areas using a toothpick.

Timeless Tuesday Challenge #247 - Cause a Scene.... a winter scene!

Deborah is our hostess today... And she wants you to cause a scene! That's right, cause a scene but it must be a winter scene! Lots of options to make that happen from stamps to snowy embellishments or papers! Come on and join us in this week's Timeless Tuesday Challenge for a chance to WIN. You can find all the details HERE on the Flourishes Blog.

Check out the chilly designs today from the Design Team!
I used Snow Scenes for my main image today. I love all of the silhouette stamp designs that Flourishes has come out with and this is no exception. It can certainly help make a quick card... simple stamping and a little airbrushing or sponging on some ink makes it pretty darn fast to finish an image. Of course you can still drag out the process when it comes to choosing dies and papers!!!

I stamped my snowman scene on Flourishes Classic White card stock using Versafine Onyx Black ink.  Before removing the paper from the die cut, I airbrushed (after masking the snow portions) using the Copics shown. I also added a little piercing just around the upper half of the die.

My Ribbon didn't quite match, so I altered it using a Copic to color one side the BG72 color.

Here's the up close. I added foam tape in between layers for dimension... of course I got a little button and bow worked in! Finished card is an A2 and it opens tent style.

This is the inside and I added a sentiment from the small set Sentimental Christmas. A few little snowflake die cuts to embellish. All of my straight line layers are done with Perfect Layer Rulers.

Here's the HOP LIST

Jenny Groppyou are here!

I chose to work with two sets from The Craft's Meow. I loved these stamps... and I was so very impressed with how very clean and crisp the images stamped. I will definitely be doing a little shopping!

Inside Christmas - which is packed with wonderful Holiday Sentiments.

The second set I used is Holiday Poinsettia which has lots of great possibilities!

I pulled out my Graphic 45 Twelve Days of Christmas paper collection and Perfect Layer Rulers with my new stamps from The Craft's Meow and went to town! I had a great time just stamping simply and letting the pretty papers along with the layers do all the work.

CARD 1

I used a portion of a Sizzix Circle Stand up Card Die #658843) to create the base of the card. I used MFT's Sweet Stack Labels to frame the sentiment. I used the 1/16" edge of my Perfect Layer Ruler to add the border along the sentiment strip. I hand cut the the rounded corner portions.

Here is the inside with a layered strip of G45 paper along with the beautiful holiday sentiment. Look how crisp and clean that sentiment is! I stamped using Versafine Olympia Green ink.

Here's an up close.  I used the 1/16" edge of my Perfect Layer Ruler to add the border along the sentiment strip. I hand cut the the rounded corner portions. A few circle nesties under the sentiment with some foam tape in between layers for dimension. Of course the pretty paper needed a bow too!

CARD 2

This card also uses the Sizzix Circle Stand up Card Die #658843) to create the card base. Having that precut card base sure makes it easy... after that it's just layering and adhering the paper! This is the front of the card closed. That plaid circle was a chipboard  piece from the G45 Collection. I've also used a Chestnut Roan cats eye to ink up my edges.

Folding the front flap back, you have plenty of space to write a note. I stamped the pretty poinsettia in the corner using Versafine Crimson Red ink.

Here it is folded up to be displayed. The sentiments you can see in this picture were both stamped with Versafine's Olympia Green. Lots and lots of layering going on made easy withe the rulers!

Here's the up close. Isn't that sentiment so nice!

CARD 3

Here's my last card to share. I framed the sentiment with a Spellbinder's D-Lites Die called Ornamental Tags One. I cut it twice, once in ivory and a second in green. The green is off set and layered behind the ivory giving it a little shadow. I added a little punched border along the bottom edge... but everything else is just layered using my perfect layer rulers!

Here' the inside with another beautiful sentiment from the Inside Christmas set with a few layers added!

Here's the HOP LIST again for you!
Don't forget to leave comments as you hop to be eligible to win the gift certificates!
