CARD 1
went with a wedding theme!
I used a nesting die set from Nellie's to create my embossed background. I just lined up the dies and embossed rather than cut. Then I cut the two smallest of the set to stamp and layer the Bliss sentiment.

I cut two birds to layer on my card. I cut one normally and removed the pieces. The other I added a sheet of ScorPal tape to the back of the paper before die cutting. I used heavy weight paper (#110) so that the die would not cut all the way through the heavy paper and the tape layer.  The tape then holds all the little pieces in place. I've shown a front view of the two dies (above) and the backside of the dies is below.

Here's an up close view. I layered the two die cut birds and bent the top bird's wing back for a little dimension. Of course, I had to sneak a little bow in there! Finished card size is an A2 and opens tent style at the bottom.

On the inside of the card I added a little left over strip of paper and the Congratulations sentiment.

CARD 2
When I was rustling through my stamps, I found the Merry Christmas Arc was the perfect size to match up with the Dove! What a happy discovery! I've stepped out the process of how I added the glitter below. While it looks like several involved steps it actually goes very quickly!
I used #110 white paper and added an sheet of double sided ScorPal tape to the the top. I die cut it... the die will not cut all the way through the paper because it is a heavier weight. But it cuts cleanly through the top layer of tape. After cutting remove the large portion of the bird, leaving the small pieces of ScorPal tape in place. The shiny portion that you see is adhesive.

Next, I cut a second bird die out of white paper. I placed it on top of the open adhesive on my first dove.  I wanted two layers of dove so that it would be extra sturdy as it will be popped up on the card.

I used a scary looking dental tool type pick to help lift up the top layer of the tiny ScorPal tape pieces - revealing open adhesive.

I used Microfine Warm Translucent Glitter to fill in the adhesive areas on the wing. I added a bit more sparkle by threading some iridescent string through the outside edge of my Nestie.

Here's the close up - the sparkly glitter does not show up well in the picture. I used Spellbinder's Grand Dies to create my card base and layers.

On the inside I added the Happy Holidays sentiment and a few random stamped Snowflakes

Sponge your edges, tear some paper...just add some kind of distressing technique to your project. Be sure and play along with us this week, you can find all the details of how to enter the challenge on the Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Blog.

OK... so this is about as distressed as I can get! I can't help it... I like clean lines! I admire the distressed look and vintage projects but they don't come easily for me! I taught this card in a Copic class last year and thought it would fit the bill for this challenge! I used the Flourishes set Snow Wonderful which pairs up with the custom Classic Keyhole Die set.

Copic Markers used:
Background: BG10 - 2 layers of color around the outside
Birds: E13, W4, W9, E41, YR27, E44, E43 , 0 Blender
Pine Needles: BG93, BG99, Y23, 0 Blender
Branches: E55, E57, E59

I used the Keyhole Die to cut out the frame from the kraft layer. After coloring the image I hand cut it out right along the image's edge and popped it up in the frame's window. Finished card size is an A2 and opens tent style at the bottom.

a quick non-crafty post...

Happy Weekend!
No card today... just a quick post for the folks in the Atlanta area! I don't often post personal stuff. I know you are here to look at cards and share crafty ideas!!
But I wanted to share just a little bit today...

This month my husband's restaurant Petite Auberge is celebrating 39 years in business. I'm so proud of him and his brother for continuing the family business. This spring they also opened a Specialty Olive Oil and Balsamic Vinegar Boutique in the restaurant. Once every month they host a Friday night party with Cooking Demonstrations, free Hors D'Oeuvres and Specialty Cocktails.... and this Friday, August 23rd is the day! Come visit between 6 and 9 in the evening! No charge to attend. You can find directions and more info using the link above to the restaurant website.
AND.... they will have a special guest for the evening, my father Mark Sillay.  Mark is a well known local Woodturning Artist and Traveling Instructor. While my Dad does a great deal of artsy decorative pieces, he will be sharing more functional items with us for the evening. Mark will be bringing hand turned specialty Peppermills, Salad Bowls, and Wine Stoppers that will be for sale during the evening. These will make wonderful holiday gifts or pick up something for yourself along with a few bottles of Petite's Specialty Olive Oils and Balsamics. You can find more information on Mark by visiting his website at www.marksillay.com. He's just changed web servers and is in the process of getting the website back up to speed! You can watch him in many instructional videos by searching his name on YouTube too!

If you are free for the evening and want to pop by for a visit mention that you read my little blog and receive 20% off your Olive Oil and Vinegar purchases for the evening! I'll be there around 7pm and you can meet my sweet husband, Anthony who puts up with me... truly my better half!!!

I had to color up an image from the newest set Autumn Blessings.
All the images are fab in the set! Just waiting for some Copics to bring them to life!

After I stamped the image using Memento Tuxedo Black. I placed the die from the Perfectly Pierced Frame Set over the image and traced the inside edge of the die using a pencil.  Then I hand cut it out.

Here's the up close. I used foam tape to pop up some elements, adding dimension. The finished card is 5 1/2" square and opens up tent style at the bottom.

Here's my card for today!

I have been wanting to do a western type card with all the fun new images. Finally... I got to it! My colors go a little skewed when airbrushing. I forgot that mixing blue and yellow makes green!! It's not as green in person as it is in the pic! I still liked it so I just went with it!

I stamped on white using Versafine Black ink.  All of the color was applied by airbrushing with a few Copics to the Pony Express Label, the Pony Express Poster, and the Rodeo Silhouette image.
COPICS: Y26, BG18 and E55

I used a birthday greeting on the inside from the Greeting Card Sentiments set. Finished card opens tent style and is A2 sized.

Soon Summer will be coming to a close. Which is fine by me.... happy to have those fall crisp cooler temps on the way!  Flourishes is also introducing some new Fall themed images starting tomorrow, so Broni is getting us in the fall mood this week with her challenge theme of:
Welcome Autumn by using autumn colors on your creation!

I went with fall colors and a fall image! Like I said above... I'm ready fall, come on and get here! It's been so hot and humid here in Atlanta. I chose to use the Flourishes set A Season of Thanks, every image in that set is a favorite of mine!

I stamped the image in Memento Tuxedo Black and then cut it out using Flourishes Hour Glass Die Set. Before I removed it from the die I airbrushed with Copic YR12. You can see the Copics I used above in the picture. The following Flourishes Copic Collections gave me a good starting point for my color choices:

I hand cut the additional layers around the hour glass die image. Finished card opens tent style at the bottom and the card size is an A2.

Sweet and simple for today! My main butterfly is I created using both dies from the Butterfly set. My card base with an Ann's Stitching Circle die set. In the close up below you can see the stitched detail. This is meant to be actually stitched with needle and thread... Yikes! You won't find that on this blog! But I adore the plain piercing!

I glued the butterfly flat in the center and the wings are lifted and popped up using Dimensional Silicone.

I added a fun sentiment on the inside of the card.
