The Impression Obsession Team is still showing off all the new dies that IO introduced. We know you are going to love them as much as we do! Check out all the rules of the hop on the Impression Obsession Blog.
Leave a comment on each DT Member's Blog and the IO Blog... a random winner picked each day will get to choose three dies! The winner will be announced on the Impression Obsession Blog!
I decided I would use darker tones and not the traditional bright red and green that we all normally reach for on a holiday card. Love snowman and winter scenes for seasonal cards because typically the lack of coloring on the snow makes them pretty quick! And if I'm doing a batch of holiday cards, I'm a fan of quick! I took some pics along the way as I made the card, so here's a little mini tutorial!
I stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on Neenah Classic Crest Solar White. I used the BG0000 in the background and layered just that one color to achieve the darker areas. On the sun... I ended up using the the 0 Blender (after this picture) to remove some yellow making it quite a bit paler.
Here are the other Copics I used to color in the image. In the snowman I used T1 and BG10 over the grey to create some shading around the inside edges. I aded the grey in to help give it a different shade to help separate it from the background.
I wanted the die to give me a matching border, meaning it matches up cleanly when the card is folded on the front and the back panels of the card. I cut and scored the card base. Then I placed the die centered over the fold, taped it in place and then cut. Then you can move the die and tape it in place to continue the border design down the remainder of the card's edge.
I used the die to cut just the edge to get the little pierced holes.
I shortened the card base, so that it was just the right size to frame the image. I used Perfect Layers to add the layers around the snowman. A little foam tape under the image panel for dimension. I added a few die cut snowflakes (LOVE these) and topped them with a button and loopy little bow made from white embroidery floss.
While it is a bit hard to see... I used Viva Clear Gloss Pen to add glossy shine to the little light bulbs. I also used the Viva Holo GLitter Pen to add touches of glitter to some snow areas. A few little gems down the side of the border edge.
