Friendship Flower and Border....

This week the challenge for Outlines is "Beautiful Borders". You can of course play along with the team for a chance to win $25 to shop with, check out the rules on the Outlines Blog. See what everyone cooked up today:
It was about borders this week... so I used a decorative border punch along the bottom edge and added black pearls with a Viva Pearl Pen.... so completely addicted to using those pens. I used 1/16" Black Rainbow Tape to create the thin black border lines. The sentiment is printed paper and I thought it made for a great quick and easy card.... it's so easy to perk a card up with a few dimensional flowers. I stamped the spotted flowers and used Copic E55 to color in the spotted portions.
After coloring and cutting the flowers out, I used dimensional silicone under each petal to help maintain the curled petals shape and give it some lift. Finished cards size is an A2 and opens to the right side.

Autumn

Today I'm sharing a card for the Serendipity Design Team.
Our challenge was to use stripes and dots on our card.
Check out what the other ladies came up with today:
Amy - Anya - Kathie - Linda - Miriam
I used stripes and dots all over this. I stamped the image and sentiment and only used one Copic to add color. Keeping it super simple. I added stripes using ribbon and also two thin 1/16" stripes along the bottom edge created withBlack Rainbow Tape. The ribbon actually had a white edge to it, but I used my Copic E42 to change that edge to match my card.
I stamped on Neenah Classic Crest Natural White, which actually is a soft ivory color, not white.
I added a little button with a jute string bow and also black pearls along the right edge, made with a Black Viva Pearl Pen. Finished card size is an A2.

Flourishes Friendship

The Flourishes Challenge this week is about using sentiments..... Timeless Tuesday #132. This sentiment is from the set Sweet Days of Summer. I paired it up with older paper... from Basic Grey's 6x6 Euphoria Collection.
A simple card with a few layers. I used Viva Pearl Pens to add accents down the side of the card. I used Spellbinder's Fancy Tags One to cut out the sentiment. I popped the sentiment panel us using foam tape and added a little blue bow on the top. Finished card is A2 size and opens at the bottom, tent style.

I love making Halloween cards... they can break all the rules and have crazy colors. This drippy goo paper had been peeking out of a pile for a few weeks and I finally decided to pull it out and pair it up with this little Halloween kitty. I used 1/2" Scor Pal tape to adhere the wrapped Bakers Twine to the card. A little banner with a bow to complete the card.
I cut the image out using Spellbinder's Labels One. Added some quick Copic Color and constructed a quick and fun card. Finished card size is an A2.

Pretty in PInk....

So, the challenge over at Flourishes this week was to make a card using pink.... so I mulled it over for a few days and decided to create this card for the PINK challenge... I don't often use pink. And I finally sat down to post it tonight and went back to link the challenge and surprise... the challenge was to use pink, one button, lace and ribbon. So I have failed to read the instructions completely once again! Here is the link to the challenge, should you want to follow the instructions and play!
I used an image from the new set Sweet days of Summer. I airbrushed a little pink and yellow on the image before I removed it from the nestie frame, leaving the outside white. I used a Micron pen to add the little stitch marks using the inside of the die as my guide. I loved this image with the girl reading... I was a big reader as a child... I could get lost in a book for hours! Who knew then that one day ipads would be here and we could download any book anytime with a few touches!
The card stayed pretty simple. I grabbed a Martha border punch for the bottom yellow layer and studded a few black crystals along it for decoration. A simple bow to embellish and it was done. Easy Peasy.... well except for the part where I could not follow the directions.

I'm over summer. It's been too hot. Bring on fall, winter... anything. Just no more heat! I thought these fun little flowers looked like summer and I used yellows and oranges to make it seem more summerish. I used Spellbinder's Grand Scalloped Squares in the background, but cut the scallops off two of the edges. A few more Nestie layers to frame the flowers.
Here are the Copics I used to color the image. I used the 0 Blender to give a washed out look to the wheelbarrow.
After I added everything to the card, my final touch was adding a gold pearl center in all the flowers. Love that you can make them any size with the Viva Pens!

  • Stamps by Outlines: H-805 Sparkle Wheelbarrow
  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Paper: Neenah Peppercorn, Orange, DP by Kaisercraft, Black

Oh Happy Day!

The Serendipity DT is showcasing cards with a "Water" theme today. Check out what the team came up with:  MiriamAmy,  AnyaKathie and Lynda.
My Father was a single parent and and an avid fisherman. Looking back, I know any time he had to get on the water was a Happy Day! I spent many hours watching him fly fish and fishing beside him. Really good memories... excluding the time he hooked ME and I had to go to the ER to have hook extracted! Not such a good memory there!
You can see the Copics I used to give this image a quick color job. I also airbrushed BG78 around the edges.I always keep man cards kind of simple and not too fussy. I added some simple piercing and a tiny jute string bow. The fisherman panel and the sentiment are raised with foam tape.

Find all the details on the Outlines BlogSee what the ladies created this week:  Jeanne StreiffLisa SilverRobin Kirkpatrick, Sue Kment and Kecia Waters.
I heat embossed the E-567 Happy Wedding Day stamp with Silver EP. I added layers using foam tape to add dimension.  I went simple on the card, knowing the lace was going to dress it up quite a bit. No Copics today!
I added the lace under the Spellbinder's Lacey Square die and studded the frame with tiny adhesive pearls. I did add some polka dot embossing on the silver background with a CB folder, but it is a little hard to see in the pic. Simple and sweet for today! Finished card is 4 1/2" Square.

Buzzin' By....

The challenge this week over at Flourishes was to create a card featuring our favorite flowers - Timeless Tuesday Challenge #129. Well... anything goes for me! No green thumb here... so my favorite flowers are anything that actually blooms around my house! I created this card using the "Bee my Honey" set.
I stamped the wildflowers off the bottom of the card stock, twice. I added the sentiment and stamped the little bee. I used a Micron Pen to add a little trail behind the bee. You can see the Copics I used to color the image.
Here is an up close look. I LOVE the bakers twine and have a had time not using it on everything lately! I used band of Scor-Pal tape on the card stock and then wrapped the twine around that. I added a little button and glued the bow on top of it. I used a Viva Pearl Pen to add the little pearl accents along the punched border.
  • Stamps: by Flourishes - Bee my Honey
  • Paper: Yellow and Brown DP by Bo Bunny, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White
  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Versafine Onyx Black
  • Other: Bakers Twine by The Twinery, Copics, Martha Stewart Border Punch, Misc. Button, Viva Pearl Pen Ice White, Bow Easy Tool

IO Challenge - ORANGE

Orange

Check out the Impression Obsession Blog to see who's got orange treats up to see today! As always you can play along with us for a chance to win a $25 Gift Certificate. Find all the rules and how to enter on the Impression Obsession Blog.

Of course the color orange makes me think of Halloween, which makes me think of black cats! This was a new image released at Summer CHA.... Cat in the Jack. A quick image to color combined with a few layers of Spellbinder's die cuts to create the layers made for an easy card.
Here are the Copics that I used to color. I did add a line and a grey base to ground the pumpkin. I also softly airbrushed around the edges using N3. I outlined the entire image with YR0000. The airbrushing and outlining are subtle and difficult to see in the picture.
I used Spellbinder's Eyelet Squares to cut out the scalloped square. In the small eyelet holes I added orange dew drop embellishments. I used foam tape to pop up the layers, adding dimension. I black bow made from seam binding finishes it off.

Outlines Challenge - Inspiration Photo

Inspiration Photo for this week's challenge.
The Outlines Team is posting today. We had a photo to draw inspiration from when creating our card this week. You can play along with us each week for a chance to win a $25 Gift Certificate to shop at Outlines! Check out all the details of how to play along with us on the The Outlines BlogSee what the ladies created this week:  Jeanne StreiffLisa SilverRobin Kirkpatrick, Sandy HulsartSue Kment and Kecia Waters.
No Copics on this very quick and easy card. I loved the picture and the clean colors of the green, white and black together along with a little elegant touch in the scrollwork of the mirror. When I looked through my stamps I thought it might work for a Christmas card, even though the colors are not really traditional red and green.
I stamped the snowflake with Versamark and the heat embossed with white detail powder to create the background. I used 1/16" Black Rainbow Tape to edge the green panel. I stamped the sentiment twice cutting the inside out and layering the white on the green with a little piece of foam tape. I used Spellbinder's Dies to create the panel for the sentiment. I also embossed the white die-cut with a snowflake CB folder. A white bow runs down the side and I added three little crystals at the bottom for a touch of sparkle.
